Katie Bass

Personal Care Assistant – Aspire Thanet

Key responsibilities:

I am a Care Co-ordinator for Aspire Thanet. I am very passionate about providing person-centred care and like to think that I apply this to my everyday practice. I have a regular set of clients that I see every week and I have built really strong relationships with my clients as I see them regularly and I think consistency is so important. They know I am coming to see them and trust me to look after them which is very rewarding.

I have an BTEC level 3 National Diploma in Health and Social Care, a Level 2 in End-of-Life Care and have recently completed a Level 2 in Dementia care.
I have spent the last 18 months studying to meet the entry requirements for a degree in adult nursing which included completing a Level 3 Diploma in Access to Higher Education. I successfully met the requirements and will commence my studies in September 2022.

How long have you worked for Aspire?

I have been working for Aspire since September 2021.

Experience prior to Aspire:

I have been a care assistant for 10 years and have gained my experience in care homes, agency work and my most recent role for the past 4 years, domiciliary care, which lead me to Aspire.

Interests outside of work:

Outside of work I love getting stuck into a good book, especially anything medical! I am a wife and a mother to two young children so spending quality time with my family outside of work is very important to me.

Up until recently I spent a year volunteering for the PANDAS foundation, offering support and advice to those suffering with peri-natal mental health issues.
